Hello,

It's been a couple years since I posted "humidity and digital" on this forum, looking for insight about recording in harsh conditions. Thanks to those who responded back then. Finally, the project is progressing forward and I'm looking for any further advice anyone could offer.

The Details: 6-8 weeks shooting film in Mozambique during the rainy season. Three of the seven deadly sins for electronics will be in full effect: rain, humidity, and the beach.

Nagra's out (too much tape stock for a remote island). DAT...DEVA...

If you would also answer me this:
Would anyone (production mixers, especially) consider using rental gear for a shoot like this to save the wear-and-tear on your own gear (but sacrificing the rental if you used your own). Or does anyone feel that gear in heavy rains and humid conditions can be well enough protected that L&D (loss and damage) would be within reason? Certainly depends on the $, but this is pretty low-budget.

Thanks for your insights.

Sincerely,
Brian Copenhagen
