Has anyone heard of Janus' sfx libraries. I'm interested in getting one that was produced in 1995. How is quality? Does anyone know where I can get some samples to hear what they are like? Secondly - is it legal to buy and use sfx libraries that were already bought by someone else?

Do a Google search for Janus sound effects. Lots of info there.
Most sfx libraries are blanket licensed to the original buyer so your using some one elses library would be wrong.

At the time of your post, I did the search and certainly came up with nothing that would help me discover the quality and content. I did hunt for a while and found a post house in the New England that used it. I wrote to them and they gave me some good feedback - but anything short of some actual samples was not going to satisfy my curiosity.
Well......I wound up buying the thing because it was less than $40 for 6CD's / over 5000 efx. What could it hurt right? I am here to say that I am actually pleased with the purchase. I have worked with such libraries as "The Hollywood Edge", "Sound Ideas", "Turner", "20th Century Fox", and all the top quality sfx libaries - now I am not saying that the Janus library compares at all but it has clean samples and variety and I'm sure that most of you will agree that there comes a time when there is a sfx that you can find anywhere but that various collection either recorded yourself or gotten from that library that "you cant remember where that thing came from...I've just had it forever".
Anyway I'm sure this CD will come in handy when all else just isn't happening.....
I mean come on....$40 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!
