The Mission of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology:
“To interpret and conserve the Earth’s biological diversity through research, education, and citizen science focused on birds.”

**********************************

The Macaulay Library of Natural Sounds is seeking an individual who
is a team player with proven production management experience to
oversee its audio production operation. Attached is a copy of the
job description (an on-line posting is available at
<http://www.ohr.cornell.edu/jobs/index.html>. Type "01176" in the
Job Number Search field). This is a full time position with a pay
range of between $50-55,000, level commensurate with experience, and
a health and retirement benefits package. The
salary is very
competitive for the Ithaca, New York area where one may reasonably
expect to purchase nice home in a good school district for
$125,000-$150,000.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a dynamic organization with the
stated mission, "To interpret and conserve the Earth's biological
diversity through research, education, and citizen science focused on
birds." Employing approximately 150 people, CLO is home to programs
specializing in conservation, research, and public outreach. In
March 2003 CLO moved into a new building (see attached image). The
Macaulay Library facilities occupy approximately 9,500 sq ft of the
new facility and include two video work studios, six audio work
studios, a DVD mastering room, a surround sound mastering studio
(7.1 capability), and climate controlled media storage area.

A four-hour drive from New York City, Ithaca is situated in the heart
of New York State's Finger Lakes region, a region known for its
vineyards, rolling hills, and lakes
<http://www.visitithaca.com/index-visitithaca.htm>. Ithaca itself is
built around the southern tip of Cayuga Lake, a glacially formed body
of water some 40 mile long and 450 feet at its deepest. Ithaca is
well known for its numerous gorges and waterfalls. Dramatic gorges,
each several hundred feet deep form the north and south boundaries of
the Cornell University campus. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is
just one of several fine museums in the area which includes The
Museum of the Earth, The Science Center, Cornell Plantations.
