Dear list members,
I deeply apologize for advertising a (simple) indie sound job for the measly day rate of $275. How could I? Besides the one member who'd be fitting perfectly but could only cover one day, others either suggested friends (who never mixed before as I found out) or just sent harrassing emails like dgek@aol.com who also gave unasked for production advice. A real gent!
I somewhat wonder where this people like him live. They just pop up from out of nowhere and expect union rates to be paid? Student shorts often pay nothing (because they just don't have it) and use PAs or whoever is on location - something every real sound mixer can only laugh aboutthe $275 day rate. That's funny.
So, how the hell are all these expert sound mixers starting out? Are they born into eternal wisdom? Do they start small? No!
