Canadian new to the field

Hi all,
Sound for film has been my dream for quite sometime now, but ive found its quite difficult to get started. Does anyone have any tips for getting into the field? Oh and by the way I live in calgary if anyone knows some amateaur filmmakers who need some free music.

First and Foremost you need to go where the work is.

And as I have said on other forums, I suggest you try and go to either LA or London, UK. Better opportunities in the longrun.
Vancouver is really a bad place to get started, as the wages here and opportunities are much less than elsewhere.
