I Idy,

Are DVD-R,DVD-RW and DVD-RAM just the same?

I mean can the DVD-(R/RW) used in computers, the same as the DVD-RAM used in for DVD recorders like the FOSTEX PD6 or the back-ups of the hardisc recorders?

Thanks.

hm, something went wrong with the post...

a simple Google search came up with this:
http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Hardware_Software/2003/DVDFormatsExplained.asp

and:
www.maxell-data.com/pdfs/SMSMaxell3049PDF.pdf

As for the PD-6, it uses a special 2.8 GB DVD-RAM format (also used in video-camera's). The disk aren't cheap (somewhere around 30 $, not a problem in a professional application) and you can't use another format in the recorder. However you CAN take out the 2.8 DVD-RAM disc out of its case and read it in a DVD drive on a Mac.
Hope this helps.
