does anyone have a suggestion as to how one can get work on a union job? can one get on the union bandwagon via interning?

It's a catch 22. You can't work on a union show unless you're in the union.

You can't "intern" although there used to be a trainee classification, but I don't think it exists any more. You should really just call the union and ask them.

The easiest way to get in is to build up the hours on non-union shows. But you'll need timesheets with a job description on them.
