The Film Applications Engineer performs customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of Dolby equipment and systems. Operates Dolby equipment including printmasters, video laybacks, and venue calibrations. Represents Dolby when dealing with customers and other personnel in the film, music, and broadcast industries. Provides in-house technical and preparatory services including inventory, stocking, and wiring projects. Performs projectionist duties as required. Prepares daily logs and submits weekly reports of work performed.
Installs, troubleshoots, tests, aligns, and operates both Dolby equipment and that of other manufacturers at dubbing stages, theatres, and studios located throughout East Coast of the United States and all of Canada.
Attends previews and premieres as Dolby representative.
Operates and maintains all in-house presentation and mastering equipment for screenings, transfers, demonstrations, and A/B audio tests.
Maintains shop and equipment storage area for quick retrieval of equipment and parts. Prepares equipment and racks for remote jobs.
Requirements:
BS degree - Engineering
Three to four years experience in film postproduction environment.
Thorough knowledge of Dolby products, both cinema and professional, as well as other film-related dubbing and projection systems.
Ability to install, align, and repair all audio equipment in film postproduction environment and film exhibition environment.
Basic understanding of standard digital recording equipment.
Must be willing to work flexible hours.
Moderate travel.
