Hi Folks,
A couple just made their way here. I saw them last fall at AES/LA. Fairly low cable noise. Sensitivity somewhere between the VERY sensitive original Countryman B6 (that Carl later reduced) and the EMW. Less roomy sounding than an EMW.
About the same selfnoise as the VERY sensitive original B6 (which I guess means the diaphragms are about the same size as the B6) with a bit less chest and low end and a bit more peak than the B6, so it doesn't mind being under a shirt or blouse.
The housing itself is larger than a B6 because it has two diaphragms. They're wired out of phase to reduce local vibration, which they do. Nice flexible cable about 8 feet long, feels pretty sturdy.
The mic's almost small enough to hide behind a button, with the help of a little tape on the back (inside) of a shirt placket. If it were white, which it isn't, it would probably be less visible. I heard they will have a "flesh" colored version.
The power supply is a bit longer than I'm used to and it sticks out a bit further on the side of my Sound Devices 442.
The mic uses a bayonette-style four pin. The power supply has the reciprocal socket so you can plug into a Sony Xmitter or right into the hard-wired power supply.
Guess you'd have put a new plug on or create a link to use them with other xmitters.
Got any questions while I have them here? I'm getting one wired up to fit Lectros.
Regards,
Ty Ford
