Recordist/Editor Unions in Northern Ca.?

Hello everyone,

I am relocating from Orlando, Florida via St. Louis to Napa Valley and am a member of St. Louis IATSE Local 493.

I wish to transfer to a similar local but have only found IATSE Local 16 and didn't see any sound departments listed.

Are there any other unions in the area for recordists/editors?

Hey Blair,

I recommend joining Local 700/ Motion Picture Editors Guild. With that you get a very nice magazine but more important a great healthplan with little maintenance to keep you covered!!!!!

Otherwise it is Local 16 which covers the larger Bay Area sound community but I have worked with sound people in the region who where not at all happy with 16.

Also keep in mind, if you want to work in the greater L.A. Area the Editorsguild is the way to go <www.editorsguild.com>
