Guys here are discussing the possibility of use Aaton 35 operating in 3 perfurations instead 4.
The operation is 25% more economic and in third world countries money must be saved to be used in other projects.
I am receptive to such idea but I am afraid about the noise levels in studio's use.
Website of Aaton inform a noise level of 26 dB/3 Perf against 33 in 4 perfuration.
My feeling working with Aaton 35 in standard mode ( 4 perf ) in location that the noise is higher than 33 ( it is almost 40 dB ).
I had problems in all close ups. They must be re-recorded as the camera's noise is very near of the voice levels
Definitively Aaton 35 is not a studio camera and it's use outside depends on the distance they will use it.
Arri has the same option in 435 but do not inform nothing about noise level in 3 perf operation mode. ( Maybe because they know 435 is not the right camera to be used with location sound ).
Did you have experience with three perf operation? Or know someone that had? Or some technical information regarding it?
