I'm looking for someone to build a custom cart for me. If you can or if you know someone who can please let me know.

If you have a diagram & specs on paper a metal fabricating shop would be a good place to start.

Thank you Eric, that thought never crossed my mind! Seriously, I was hoping to find someone who already had a few different designs I could choose from like Backstage Equipment. However, Backstage carts are all made out of steal and they are very heavy. Backstage also refuses to fabricate a cart out of aluminum.

I would ask your question on the location sound newsgroup, RAMPS.

You can get to it through Google. Click on Google groups & type in: rec.arts.movies.production.sound

Lots of very useful info available there from soundmixers all over the world.

Check out the Location Sound in Vancouver (on Google) they actually do custom carts! Checked into it. They have some cool ideas. Not too pricey considering what you get ie built in cases etc. They will modify whatever you want.

Cheers,

Michael Lonsdale is a NY TV commercial sound mixer who makes great custom carts made out of a specially extruded aluminum stock. I'm sure you could call him and figure out what might work. His number is 203-226-9963. :)
